Dr. Alan Milledge Smith, MD
Anesthesiologist | President & Founding Partner of ACA
With 25 years of experience, Dr. Alan Milledge Smith serves as the President and a founding partner of ACA, bringing extensive expertise and dedication to the practice. After earning his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, he completed his residency at Carraway Methodist Medical Center and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he also distinguished himself as Chief Resident in 1998-1999 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
Dr. Smith is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and is an active member of both the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Georgia Society of Anesthesiologists, highlighting his ongoing commitment to the field.

Dr. Damon Templeton, MD
Anesthesiologist | Founding Partner of ACA | Medical Director at Surgical Center of Augusta
With an impressive 33 years of experience, Dr. Damon Templeton is a founding partner of ACA and serves as the Medical Director at the Surgical Center of Augusta. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, where he later contributed as an Associate Professor of Anesthesia. Dr. Templeton completed his transitional internship at Lloyd Noland Hospital in Alabama and returned to the Medical College of Georgia for his anesthesia residency, where he earned the prestigious Jack B. Williams Teaching Award.

Dr. Templeton is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and maintains active memberships with the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Georgia Society of Anesthesiologists, the Medical Association of Georgia, the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia, and the American Society for Regional Anesthesia.

Tommy Starnes, CRNA

Tommy Starnes is a seasoned CRNA with 30+ years of experience whose leadership and expertise are integral to ACA’s success. Holding a Master’s degree in Health Sciences, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to every case. As a board-certified nurse anesthetist, Tommy is committed to delivering high-quality anesthesia care and fostering a supportive and efficient team environment.

With 15 years of experience, Dr. Shannon Rainey brings deep expertise and leadership to ACA as an anesthesiologist, department chairman, and valued partner. A graduate of Mercer University School of Medicine, Dr. Rainey completed his advanced training at William Beaumont Army Medical Center and the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium, solidifying a foundation in both medical excellence and military service.

With 20 years of experience, Dr. James Porterfield is a highly experienced anesthesiologist and senior partner at Anesthesia Consultants of Augusta (ACA). He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 2001, where he also completed his residency in anesthesiology. Dr. Porterfield is board certified and an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Georgia Society of Anesthesiologists.

With 34 years of experience, Dr. Gerard Schroeder is a highly skilled attending anesthesiologist who also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at Augusta University. A graduate of SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine, Dr. Schroeder completed his residency in anesthesiology at SUNY Stony Brook and has specialized training in both adult and pediatric cardiac anesthesia as well as acute and chronic pain blocks, allowing him to deliver advanced, specialized care.
Dr. Schroeder is board certified and an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Georgia Society of Anesthesiologists, underscoring his commitment to high standards of patient safety and clinical excellence. Dr. Timothy Del Rosario, MD, MBA

With six years of experience in anesthesiology, Dr. Timothy Del Rosario is a skilled partner at ACA, combining his medical expertise with an MBA to enhance patient care and team collaboration. He completed his medical education at the Medical College of Georgia, followed by specialized training in ambulatory anesthesia at Ohio State University. Dr. Del Rosario also served as Chief Resident from 2017-2018, underscoring his leadership in the field.

With four years of practice, Dr. Austin Bell is a dedicated anesthesiologist known for his commitment to both patient care and medical education. He graduated from the Uniformed Services University Medical School and completed his residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident in 2021. Dr. Bell also contributes to training future physicians as an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University.

With 26 years of experience, Dr. Andrew Forgay brings a wealth of expertise in both anesthesiology and pain management to his role. A graduate of Emory University School of Medicine, Dr. Forgay completed his residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. He further specialized with a fellowship in Pain Management at the Medical College of Georgia and a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, blending conventional and holistic approaches to patient care.

Dr. Forgay is board certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, and he actively contributes to his field as a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology. He is also the President-elect of the Association of Veterans Affairs Anesthesiologists, reflecting his leadership and commitment to advancing care for veterans.
